Zoe Saldana (born June 19 1978) was born to Asalia Saldana & Aridio Saldana, who reside in Passaic New Jersey. Her father was Dominican and her mother is Puerto Rican. Her mother is from Puerto Rico as is her father, Dominican. The family she was raised with moved from Queens, New York, to the Dominican Republic when she was 10, and lived in the Dominican Republic for 7 years. Zoe began to develop a fascination for dancing while in Dominican Republic. She began training at ECOS Espacio de Danza Dance Academy and was there to learn ballet as well as other types of dancing. The lessons she learned were not just a wonderful outlet for an energetic, passionate child, it was also the ideal preparation for her future profession as an actor. As a teenager, Zoe and her family moved back in her home in the United States where her love for dance followed and an interest in theater performance became more intense. Zoe has not only held her own in the biggest motion picture projects, but has also earned recognition and admiration of industry experts like Jerry Bruckheimer and Steven Spielberg and other actors/actresses including Tom Hanks, Bernie Mac, Keira Knightley, Ashton Kutcher, Kirsten Dunst and Orlando Bloom. Numerous co-stars and directors and producers believe that there is no limit to what can be achieved for this rising star. Zoe has shown an impressive range of talent, sharp focus, and an unwavering determination in pursuing projects which are challenging her in a variety of subject topics and types of characters.
