Whitney Houston and Dana Bash

Whitney Elizabeth Houston, born 9 August 1963 into an incredibly musical family from Newark New Jersey is the daughter of Gospel star Cissy Houston and John Russell Houston Jr. They are also cousins of singer Dionne Warwick. When she was a little girl, Houston began singing professionally in the church choir. She sang backing vocals for Chaka Khosns 1978 single Im Every Woman with her mom. Then, she performed background vocals for Jermaine Jackson and Lou Rawls and even her mother. She started as a featured singer for The New York-based New York Funk band Material. Her vocal quality performance attracted the attention of major record label Arista who signed her in 1983. The year 1985 saw the debut of Whitney Houston became the best-selling debut album ever. Tracks like the title track, The Greatest Love of All, How Do I Know if You Give Good Love or the song Saving All My Love were all released on the album. They enabled Houston to earn 7 US top tens, which surpassed even those of The Beatles. The album sold 3 million copies during its initial year, as well as 25 million around the world. She won her first six Grammy Awards. The Whitney 1987 release, featuring Where Do Broken Hearts and I Wanna Dance With Somebody as songs, grew on the success she had achieved. The 1992 film The Bodyguard sealed her spot in the top 20 most-sellers in history. Dana Bash (also known as Dana Ruth Schwartz) is a CNN anchorwoman and reporter for the political section of CNN. Her prior work has included NBC, CBS and other prestigious channels.
