Anna Paquin, a Canadian-New Zealander actress. Paquin is a native of Winnipeg and grew up in Wellington and made her stage debut as Flora McGrath when she played her role in The Piano. She won an Academy Award at the age of 11 as Best support Actress. Anna Paquin full name Anna Helene Paquin was born on July 24 in 1982 Winnipeg Manitoba Canada. Canadian-born New Zealand actor who won the Academy Award as a youngster as Best Supporting Actress portraying the inquisitive and talkative child of Holly Hunter's principal role as Holly Hunter in The Piano. She was cast as Flora McGrath the daughter of an mute Scottish pianist who in the middle of the 19th century makes her way to New Zealand for an arranged marriage when she responded to an audition for open casting when she was just nine years aged and had little previous experience with acting. As a teenager, she was able to move to the United States. Paquin had a small part in the role of Jane Eyre's title character while she was in the midst of her childhood with Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre (1996) as well as an important role in the film Fly Away Home (1996). Paquin had a small role in the 1997 television film remake of Carson McCullers novel The Member of the Wedding. In Steven Spielberg's Amistad her character was the Spanish queen as a minor character. She portrayed teens for the roles of Hurlyburly (1998) She's All That (1999) as well as A Walk on the Moon (1999) and portrayed the character of a groupie Polexia Aphrodisa in Almost Famous (2000).
