April Ross
April Ross, a beach volleyball star from the United States is part of a select group of women who have been awarded medals at more than one Olympics. Alix Klineman, playing for the first time at Tokyo's Olympic Games and will attempt to win her third Olympic medal. But more than that, Ross is aiming to capture the first Olympic gold. At 39, this could be her final chance to win the gold medal at an Olympics. But she's still certain of taking top honors. Ross said on NBC Boston that if they are at their absolute best or even a good game, she believes the team can win a gold medal. It's also going to be a matter of chance. Ross was a Californian born in the city of Costa Mesa in 1982. Her family lived in the area along with her parents and sister. Her athletic career began at Newport Harbor High School where she participated in several sports. The prep sports she played included indoor volleyball along with basketball as well as track and running. She stood out however at this level. As per her biography, during high school she played volleyball as an outside setter (middle blocker) and setting (outside blocker). She was awarded by the Gatorade National Circle of Champions player of the Year in 1999 for her achievements. Also, in 2000 she was recognized as the Orange County Athlete of the year for volleyball. Although Ross and Klineman have been doing their thing from 2017 onward, the former was already an established player on the beach scene prior to their team. In actual Ross has won a number of major tournaments in her career along with her two teammates. One of them is a legend. Jennifer Kessy coached her from 2007 until 2013. Alongside Kessy Ross, she was a major force on the international stage, claiming the world championship in 2009. They were awarded a silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. Misty May Treanor and Kerri Jennings, the legend team which won the 2012 Olympic Games in London, took their opponents to claim the gold medal. Ross Jennings was Walsh Jennings partner in fate as Maytreanor resigned. They won the bronze medal in beach volleyball during the Rio Olympics 2016. Ross was a Trojans player for the USC throughout her college years before becoming a professional. And her run at the school was a memorable one. As a freshman in 2000 she earned Pac-10 as well as NCAA All-American Freshman of Year accolades. She also earned an All-American. The Trojans could also reach the Final Four with her help. She endured a great personal loss during her sophomore year, however, she was capable of achieving the All-American title. In her last two seasons with the Trojans program, she guided the team to win a national championship every time. She was a fantastic player on the court, and was awarded the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the best female volleyball player in the NCAA. Ross majored in international relations at USC. Margie Ross was not able to see Ross become the highest beach volleyball stage. Ross's mother passed away from breast cancer when she was a sophomore in USC. But she still keeps her mother in her his heart. Margie remains an inspiration both on and off at the beach.
